The sights
The boat ride from Tanjung Luar
Most Pink Beach trips leave from Tanjung Luar, a fishing village of brightly painted boats. The ride along the coast passes headlands, floating fish farms and small islets.
ℹ️ Boats chartered locally or included in tours. The village fish market is busy early in the morning.
Pink Beach (Pantai Tangsi)
A cove on the Sekaroh peninsula where red coral fragments tint the sand pink. The water is clear and calm on good days; brain corals and small reef fish lie just offshore.
ℹ️ By boat from Tanjung Luar or by a rough road from Jerowaru. Small entry fee. Allow 1–2 hours at the beach.
Gili Kondo
A small island off the north-east coast with a white beach, casuarina shade and coral gardens in the shallows. Popular with local visitors on weekends.
ℹ️ By boat from Transat or Labuhan Pandan, about 20–30 minutes. Small island fee.
Gili Kapal
A sandbank that appears and changes shape with the tides, with turquoise water on all sides and flocks of terns resting on the sand.
ℹ️ Visited on east-Gili boat trips; best at low tide.
Labuhan Lombok
The port town at the eastern edge of the island, with ferry links across the strait to Sumbawa from nearby Kayangan, and views of Rinjani’s eastern slopes.
ℹ️ About 2 hours from Mataram by road.
Snorkelling the south-east reefs
Around the small islands near Pink Beach — Gili Petelu among them — shallow reefs hold starfish, giant clams and colourful fish. Visibility is best on calm mornings.
ℹ️ Snorkel gear usually included in tours. Stay off the coral.
