Two roads lead in. From the north coast (via Senaru or Bayan) the road climbs over the Pusuk Sembalun pass. From east Lombok it climbs from the coast near Pringgabaya or via Aikmel. Both are steep and winding; drivers know them well, but scooter riders should be experienced.
Public transport is sparse and slow. Most visitors arrive with a trek operator or a car and driver. Times below are typical; allow more in rain.

Getting around the Sembalun Valley
Homestays rent scooters and arrange drivers or motorbike taxis to the trailhead, Pergasingan and Bukit Selong. The valley floor is flat enough for easy walks between the two villages.
